Introduction

Hello World!

The blog is designed to allow me a forum to publicly offer my musings on life, computing, technology, food, meaning, philosophy, and anything else I deem important enough to offer.

A little history: As of this writing, I am a 31-year old male living in Albuquerque, NM, USA. I am happily married (six years!) with no kids, two cats, and a driving thirst for knowledge and self-improvement. I am a Freemason, and am a member of both Temple Lodge #6 AF&AM and Hiram Lodge #13 AF&AM, under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of New Mexico. I am an Eagle Scout and a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow in the Boy Scouts of America, although I have not been active in the last few years.

Professionally, I am finishing my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, and I work for an outsourcer as a Process and Quality Analyst. From this information, you should be able to tell that I am highly logical, and enjoy working with large amounts of information to find creative solutions, implement them, and measure their success. I guess I qualify as a "non-traditional" student, as I have been in and out of college several times over the last 14 years, have completed in excess of 160 credit hours, yet still have not finished my first bachelor's degree. I should finish in the Summer of 2007 (if nothing interrupts me again), after which I intend to return to school part-time to finish a Master's degree (or two), and possibly a PhD, if I can narrow down my interests enough to decide on a focus.

Today is Election Day in New Mexico, and we have a number of interesting races, or at least highly contested ones. I won't tell you exactly how I voted, but I am a registered Democrat - even if I disagree with a lot of the current party rhetoric, I still believe in the underlying (or at least original) purposes of the party.

My passions include technology for humanity's sake, improving society and myself, and leaving the world a better place than it was before I was here (if I can). Expect this blog to include everything from technological design musings, invention ideas, philosophical theory, good recipes, descriptions and pictures of trips and events, diatribes on misused technology or missed opportunities, and maybe even an occasional rant or cathartic venting.

If anything I post strikes a nerve, feel free to drop me a note. Open debates and civil discussions are encouraged.
